Mode of Action:

Propargite is a true miticide (acaricide) of sulfite ester group, which gives effective control of mites through its contact and fumigant action. It is used to control mites on a variety of field, fruit, and vegetable crops, as well as ornamentals. It is effective on the larval and adult stage of mites with limited ovicidal activity. It acts primarily by contact, necessitating thorough coverage of the foliage. Mites controlled by propargite include spider mites, citrus rust mites, white mites and flat mites.

Acute Oral LD50n for Rats= 2800 mg/kg

Biochemistry:

Inhibits mitochondrial ATPase, which results in interruption of normal mite metabolism and respiration.

Uses:

Propargite is used in fruit tree, vegetables, and ornamental plant. It’s non-miscible with emulsion oil. Its recommended at 1 L/1000L for fruit trees and at 1L/ha in cultivation such as maize, sugar beet and soybean Since it may indicate burning sign in citrus, bean, rose, pear and strawberry avoid using  propargite in these crops.
